Local School benefits from vote
Stroud & Swindon Building Society has donated 10p for every vote at its recent AGM to St Rose’s School in Stroud. As a result Gina Pearce from the Society was able to present the School with a cheque for £2234.
St Rose’s applied, in August 2006, to attain specialist schools foundation status. The school is working hard on projects to help them achieve this status and one of the key areas is around fund raising. If the school achieves specialist foundation status and have cash backing of £20,000 they will receive Government Funding of £100,000 in the first year. This type of cash injection will allow the school to expand and improve the facilities and care it currently provides. The cheque from Stroud & Swindon will go towards the £20,000 target.
Gina presented the cheque to Annette Fidderman, who is leading the fund raising campaign. Gina said, “We are really pleased to be helping the school and in addition to the funds raised from our AGM vote, we also had a dress down day at work which raised a further £159.”
