We stand for the encouragement of saving and the extention of home-ownership and, as a responsible corporate citizen, to support the local communities in which we operate.
We deliver what we promise to customers, building a relationship of trust based upon transparency of dealing. As a mutual organisation we act fairly and responsibly in all dealings with members.
We invest in staff and endeavour to create a working environment in which individuals are motivated to achieve both their business and personal goals. We recognise that the continued success of the Society is dependent upon the people working within it.
About the Society
We were established in 1850 and are now one of the UK’s fastest growing Building Societies, employing over 400 people and with assets of £3bn. We have 22 regionally based branches and 20 agency offices. We also operate nationally through our intermediary channel and by using the latest technologies in our Contact Centre and via the Internet.
We are committed to offering development opportunities to all staff and hold the national “Investors in People” award. In 2004 we were very proud to be awarded the ‘Gloucestershire IIP Outstanding Organisation Achievement Award’.
We are keen to be involved in the local community and support many charity events. In 2006 we raised £37,000 for various charities and had lots of fun in the process! Each of our branches have nominated their own local charity to support throughout the year.
We are actively involved in local schools and frequently do talks and offer guidance to school leavers on CV writing, careers and interviewing skills. Each year we also offer work experience placements to students wishing to gain an insight into Stroud and Swindon.
