New Chairman Appointed at Society
Stroud & Swindon is pleased to announce the appointment of Laurence James to replace Mike Bramall as Chairman.
After graduating with a degree in statistics from the University of Bath, Laurence James joined W H Smith and developed a career in marketing and sales, culminating in him becoming Retail Sales Director. Since leaving W H Smith he worked for the Pearson Group as Managing Director of Ladybird Books. He has been a member of the board at Stroud & Swindon since 1996.
Laurence James, the new chairman, said: “I am honoured to take over from Mike as Chairman of the Society. Mike has contributed hugely to the size and standing of Stroud & Swindon over the last five years and I look forward to continuing the good work Mike has been a big part of.”
David Hill, Chief Executive of Stroud & Swindon, said: “It’s fantastic that we can promote someone with the depth and breadth of experience Laurence has to the position of Chairman. We look forward to benefiting from his experience and guidance as we drive our business forward.”
Mr James is married with two children and lives in Gloucestershire.
