New Non-Executive Director Appointed
Stroud & Swindon, the UK’s 15th largest building society, today announced the appointment of a new non-executive director – Glyn Smith.
Glyn will be joining Stroud & Swindon on 1 September 2007. He is a chartered accountant with over 25 years’ experience in financial services, of which 6½ years were spent as Finance Director of Portman Building Society.
Glyn lives in Dorset with his wife and has 2 children. He is a governor of both Bournemouth University and a local school as well as a non-executive director of Bournemouth and Poole Primary Care Trust. When he is not busy with all of these responsibilities, Glyn enjoys classical music, reading and playing tennis.
Commenting on the appointment, David Hill, Chief Executive of Stroud & Swindon said, “We are delighted to be able to appoint someone of the calibre of Glyn Smith. He brings with him a wealth of expertise in finance, audit and treasury matters in addition to considerable experience in formulating strategy, all of which will help to strengthen the Board still further.”
Stella Pirie a non-executive director of the Society for the past 3 years, has decided to step down from the Board due to other commitments. Stroud & Swindon is grateful for the considerable contribution she has made to the Board and wishes her well for the future.
