Working in Partnership with the FSA
Stroud & Swindon Building Society has today announced that it will be working in partnership with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) the UK’s financial watchdog, to help consumers make better informed financial decisions and become more confident and capable in dealing with their financial affairs.
Following extensive consumer research, the FSA has recently overhauled its series of easy to read Moneymadeclear guides to help give them better stand-out and make them more engaging. Subjects covered include the following:
- Everyday money
- Saving and investing
- Buying a home
- Pensions and retirement
- If things go wrong
Whilst the research found that consumers regarded the clear, impartial information as highly valuable, it also highlighted difficulties they had in laying their hands on the information and the fact that they would expect to find it on the ‘High Street’ in their local building society or bank.
As part of Stroud & Swindon's existing commitment to improving Financial Capability in the UK, the FSA have asked the Society to support a distribution pilot of the new Moneymadeclear guides.
Jan Ball, Branch Manager of Stroud & Swindon in Swindon said, “We are really pleased to be helping the FSA with this initiative. Taking out a mortgage, organising your savings or planning for retirement are important decisions that most people have to take at some stage in their life and the more knowledge they have the better. We know that sometimes these things can appear complicated, but the new guides from the FSA really help to simplify matters and we would be delighted to help anyone who needs any further assistance.”
